Counselling Nelson NZ
Welcome. I provide professional counselling for adults, adolescents, parents and young children. I have over 30 years in the health industry and passionate about well-being.
There are many reasons why people seek counselling whether it be for stress, anxiety, grief, loss, depression, parenting concerns, conflict, relationship issues, PTSD or emotional distress, I offer a safe and confidential space for you to talk freely about what it is that's troubling you or you're having difficulty with.
I have a Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling) and a Registered full member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors.
I have completed training in the COS© Attachment model and a Registered Circle of Security Parent Facilitator©.
The Circle of Security is an eight week relational parenting program for adults of children from ages 0-6 years.
For more information on the next course please contact me.
I have an extensive background working for Perinatal Support Nelson working both as a counsellor and support worker. When working with mothers and children (0-2), I work from an Attachment framework.
This is a process which assists the bonding between mother and child, helping to build happy families.

Specialisations
Circle of Security. An eight consecutive week relationship based parenting program.
Aims for Parents/Carers:
- Understand your child's emotional world by learning to read emotional needs
- Support your child's ability to successfully manage emotions
- Enhance the development of your child's self-esteem
- Honor the innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure
Learning to apply the Circle of Security to children will help parents/caregivers shift the focus away from trying to change undesirable behaviours with rewards and punishment to seeing behaviour as communication of a need on the Circle and changing the behaviour by meeting the need.
Groups consist of 4 people each course.
All eight weeks must be attended to get the full benefit from the program.
